Permissions

Local Minutes cannot hear me. Why?

The first time you record, macOS asks for permission to use the microphone. If you said no, open System Settings, go to Privacy & Security, then Microphone, and switch on Local Minutes. Quit and reopen the app afterwards.

How do I record the sound of a call?

Recording call audio is a Pro feature. The first time you use it, macOS asks for permission to record system audio. Open System Settings, go to Privacy & Security, then Screen & System Audio Recording, and switch on Local Minutes. If recording does not start after you grant permission, quit and reopen the app.

Your data

Where are my recordings and transcripts?

On your Mac, in the app's storage. Local Minutes does not upload them and does not sync them to any cloud. Time Machine backups of your Mac can include them, as they include any other file on the Mac.

How do I delete a recording?

Select the recording in the library and delete it. To delete audio or transcripts automatically after a set number of days, set up the deletion rules in Settings. Export anything you need before you delete it.

Is anything sent to you or to a third party?

No recording, transcript or voice data is sent to us or to anyone else. The only network request the app makes is the one-time download of AI models from Hugging Face, and offline mode blocks that too. The full details are in the privacy policy.

Offline use

Does Local Minutes work without internet?

Yes, once the AI models are downloaded. Connect to the internet for the first download, then the app works without a connection. To make sure the app makes no network requests at all, turn on offline mode in Settings.

The model download fails. What should I do?

Check your internet connection, then start the download again from the AI models section of Settings. Models are downloaded only once.

Languages and transcription

Which languages are supported?

Czech, English, and recordings that mix both languages. Accuracy depends on the quality of the audio, the microphone and the room. You can add names and terms to your vocabulary so they are spelled correctly.

What happens if the Mac or the app stops during a recording?

Local Minutes saves the recording in 30-second segments while you record. If the app quits or the Mac loses power, the recording is kept up to the last saved segment.

Can I transcribe a recording again with a different language or vocabulary?

Yes. Open the recording and run the transcription again. Segments you have edited by hand are not overwritten.

Pro and purchases

What is included in Pro?

Transcripts with no length limit, call audio, speaker recognition with voice fingerprints, AI summaries and action items, questions across all meetings, all export formats, and unlimited imports. The free version records without a time limit and transcribes recordings up to 30 minutes.

How do I cancel my subscription?

In your Apple Account settings on your Mac, under Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.

I bought Pro on another Mac. How do I get it back?

Sign in to the same Apple Account, open the app's subscription settings and choose Restore Purchases.

Requirements

Which Mac do I need?

A Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or newer) running macOS 15 or later. Intel Macs are not supported.
